Nonlinear Dynamics in Optics: Present and new Perspectives Florence, Galileo Galilei Institute for Theoretical Physics July 20, 2022
AIM AND SCOPEOptical systems have always been a fertile field for nonlinear dynamics, historically initiated with the Lorenz system, born to investigate hydrodynamic instabilities but formally equivalent to lasers equations. If, on the one hand, nonlinear dynamics in optics has been mainly focused on semiconductor lasers, on the other hand we have seen a growing interest in nonlinear optical media such as optical fibers, liquid crystals and liquid crystal light valves, and photonic crystals for investigation of optical pattern formation. The purpose of the workshop is to highlight current trends of research and future perspectives in this field.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Italian Institute of Optics (Istituto Nazionale di Ottica, CNR-INO) and the University of Florence.
