SICC - Italian Society for Chaos and Complexity

Mission

The Italian Society for Chaos and Complexity (SICC) is a no-profit scientific association established in 1996. Its main aim is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and cross-fertilization between scientists and researchers interested in the theory of Chaos and Complexity. Such an aim is achieved via the organization of schools, workshops and conferences, and by facilitating the networking between national and international research groups and organizations interested in these topics.

The themes of interest include the modeling and identification of dynamical systems, bifurcation theory, the analysis and control of chaotic dynamics, the study of synchronization and self-organizing phenomena, the emergence of spatial patterns, neural networks, optimization under uncertainty, and complex adaptive systems in general. Applications range from thermodynamics to ecology, from optics to physiology, from mechanics to neuroscience and include all those areas of science, humanities, and engineering where the concept of complexity is relevant.
